Personal Artist Statement

My recent body of work is titled Observing the Tide. This series began as a therapeutic tool for processing a difficult period of my life and evolved into a dedicated examination of the tension between our "always-on" digital age and the human search for inner peace.

I combine a visual language of various 90s trends—including tranquil marine life, bright neon colors, and technological motifs—to construct immersive "neon-aquatic" environments. I build these spaces to evoke a false sense of excitement, hope, and peace, reflecting the early-internet optimism of my millennial upbringing. By utilizing surreal elements such as exaggerated features, forced perspective, and watchful eyes, I draw connections between my strict religious background and the modern anxiety of our social media-obsessed society that thrives on constant display.

Through this lens, I explore how the digital era reshapes the psyche and fuels a collective longing for a time when our identities remained private. Ultimately, I build these tranquil spaces to invite the viewer to step away from the pressure of constant progress. My work provides a sanctuary to process the isolation of our hyper-connected era and find a moment of nostalgic stillness.
